Version History
Version 1: February 2005
ReceptionBook.com was originally built as a standalone system for a luxury hotel
in Zanzibar. With no online reservation capabilities this was a simple in house
system.
Version 2: November 2006
With the development of internet across Africa, ReceptionBook.com began the process
of developing an internet based reservation system linking hotels and tour operators;
having gathered information and requirements from a cross section of east and southern
African hotels and tour operators.
Version 3: February 2007
After meeting with our test group we discovered that slow internet speeds were affecting
the performance of the system. As we keep abreast of current internet issues we
knew of the programming language AJAX, designed to increase a web page's interactivity,
speed, functionality, and usability. We knew ReceptionBook.com
would be more reliable using AJAX and so rebuilt the system.
Version 4: November 2007
Before releasing to hotels we employed a testing team whose rigorous testing resulted
in the release of ReceptionBook.com version 4 at the beginning of November.
It has always been company policy to make sure the
reliability of service and the security of data is paramount and with the release
of version 3 we have also moved to a new server group. This
group of servers will ensure constant data backups and should the main server fail
for any reason an automatic full backup will run on the secondary server.
Version 5: April 2008
The release of Version 5 to the test team on the 2nd April included the following features:
- Cancellation Periods
- Cancellation Charging to Tour Operators
- Release Periods
- Room Maintenance
- Wait Listing
Version 6: August 2008
As an innovative company we are always trying to improve the system and satisfy our clients.
If you have any requests or changes that you require to the system please let us know and we will strive to include them in the next upgrade.
